NOTICE OF RACE
Organizing Authority: Lake Bluff Yacht Club

1. RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).



1.1 All competitors shall wear personal flotation devices at all times while on the water except for brief periods when adjusting clothing. This modifies RRS 40.



1.2 TLE (Time limit expired)-Boats failing to finish within twenty (20) minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes within the time limit will be scored TLE by the race committee without a hearing. This changes RRS 35, A4 and A5.



1.3 The Sailing Instructions may also change other racing rules.



2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY



2.1 Any Sunfish sailboat meeting class requirements for racing may enter.



2.2 Registration will be 11:00 - 12:00 on day of regatta.  For those who owe the $10 fee, we will accept cash or check.



2.3 Checks are also accepted and should be made payable to Lake Bluff Yacht Club and mailed to PO Box 292, Lake Bluff, IL 60044 along with Entry Form on Addendum 1. Day of regatta registration will be accepted.



3. ENTRY FEES



3.1 Entry Fee: LBYC members are free. Non-member fee is $10. Sailors under 19 years of age are free.



3.2 Registration fee includes post-race cook out.



4. SCHEDULE
   Sunday, August 28, 2021
     11:00 Hrs. 12:00 Hrs. Registration
     12:00 Hrs. Skipper!s Meeting
     12:30 Hrs. First Warning for Race #1, with additional races to follow


     15:30 Hrs. No Warning signal will be made after this time
     After Racing: Cook out on the beach and awards



5. MEASUREMENT
There will be no official measurement at this event although boats must be in compliance with the current class rules.



6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available electronically at lakebluffyachtclub.org



7. VENUE



7.1 The regatta venue will be at Lake Bluff Yacht Club, Sunrise Beach Lake Bluff, IL. Racing will be in the waters of Lake Michigan east of the Lake Bluff Sunrise Beach.



7.2 Boats may be delivered to the beach area but all cars must be parked on the public streets on top of the bluff near the beach entrance.



8. THE COURSES
The courses will be windward leeward, triangles, or combinations thereof.



9. PENALTY SYSTEM
Appendix V Alternative Penalties will apply.



10. SCORING



10.1 The Low Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A2, shall apply as modified by the Sailing Instructions and explained below.



10.2 One (1) race is required to constitute a series.



10.3 A maximum of six (6) races will be sailed.



10.4 When fewer than six (6) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. This modifies RRS A2.1.



10.5 TLE (Time limit expired) is added as a Scoring Abbreviation. Boats scored TLE will be scored points equal to the number of boats finishing within the time limit plustwo points by the race committee without a hearing. This changes RRS A4 and A5.



11. PRIZES
Prizes will be given as follows:



a) Top five finishers
b) Additional prizes may be given at the discretion of the Organizer



12. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 3, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
